![]() I don't recall my f96 being as 'darty' as my f95. If this carried over exactly, the sensitivity may be tire related? ![]() Perhaps the steering sensitivity is by design as explained here (this is from f85/6 but I believe it carried over to f95/6. Maybe what BMW maps to comfort is smaller inputs having larger effects, such as changing lanes on the highways with less effort in steering. I will have to drive in sport for longer spans. It "hardens" the steering and makes it far less responsive to road bumps. When in SETUP I selected Steering from Confort to Sport, the "driving twichiness" that made fast driving on the Autobahn so tiresome almost disappeared. It is amazing taking off ramps at speed how this vehicle stays so flat and doesn't lean. If you want ultimate performance out of a heavy vehicle like the X5M, it needs stiff suspension. The stiffness of the suspension is not much of an issue to me. I agree with his feedback on the steering, about how it is twitchy and never settles even in comfort. Plus I rarely have rear seat passengers and also had the F82 M4. The handling is why I'm buying this SUV over all others, but I guess it's what you're accustomed to. I'm surprised that some people are finding the suspension too stiff. I can't find the thread now but surely this can't be - unless the i8 will trickle its way into production before the official LCI changeover? Speaking of the LCI: I've asked for a Jan build on my car but had a minor heart attack yesterday when someone mentioned seeing a new car at the dealer with an i8 system. Incidentally - I just drove over 500 Miles around crappy UK roads this weekend with my late 70s parents in the back seat. I'm totally fine with that, but can understand why some people would find the suspension too hard, particularly if you come from an air-sprung car prior. What it isn't is a carpet ride like you get in an air-sprung car. I think its because as its stiffer you are moving with the car at speed rather than against it sometimes when its in comfort. In fact I've started cranking it up into Sport Plus a lot recently as it gives another tweak of body control that meaningfully makes it a better steer and oddly also seems to improve the ride, particularly on the motorway. Now that I've had it two years I crave the agility the suspension gives you. I do remember when I first drove it thinking its on the firm side and wondered how it would pan out. I had to get a new one before BMW ruins this awesome vehicle with the new LCI version coming in the spring.Ĭompletely agree on this - I've covered 16K miles so far now in mine and the Suspension really isn't an issue. BTW, my new 2023 X5MC in Gunmetal Grey with Sakhir Orange interior arrived at the dealer this past Friday and I should be taking delivery later this week. Now, after 32,000 miles on my soon to be replaced F95, I love the quick steering, and I'm used to the stiff suspension. I have to say thank you to all the users who have commissioned a scene helping me to evolve the game. When I first upgraded to my current 2020 X5MC from my previous 2017 F85, I thought the steering was too sensitive and twitchy and the ride was harsh and unpleasant.
